What is a SN95 Mustang? SN95 and New Edge mustang guide
Introduction:
It wasn't long ago back in 2016 I bought my first car. I just graduated high school and came across a 1995 Mustang GT for sale that a family member was doing some work on. It happened to be for sale and next thing you know it was mine. Fast forward to 2022 and I still own that car but quite a bit has changed with how it looks and now I am into making aero parts for these mustangs.
What is a SN95 Mustang?
Simply put a SN95 Mustang is the fourth generation of the Ford Mustang, introduced in 1994, and used Ford's Fox chassis platform. The SN95 Mustang spanned between 1994-2004 and included the popular "New Edge" Mustang from 1999-2004.
SN95 stands for Specialty/Sporty North American Market Project #95.

- 95 = Sequence Number In Ford's Numbering System For Approved Programs
SN95 exterior
The whole exterior got a complete redesign from the foxbody mustang. The new sleeker design made for a big difference for the 1994-1998 cars. The SN95 got a smoother look and more modern design compared to the sharp edges of a fox. A few different touches included ford adding side skirts, side scoops, and spoiler to match the body lines.SN95 featured two different style taillights, horizontal lenses for 1994-1995 and vertical lenses for 1996-1998. In 1999 the Mustang would undergo a refresh with a few sharper lines but very much the same car. We know this as the New Edge Mustang.
SN95 Interior
The 1994-2004 Mustang's majorly revised exterior styling was matched inside the cabin as well. The Mustang's new interior featured a dual-cockpit layout that was featured with smooth contours and sweeping curves.
Ford also included power windows, mirrors, door locks, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, and a cargo net in the trunk, as well as the 230-watt multi-speaker sound system with a CD player as standard features. To keep up with safety laws, there were dual front airbags and it received the standard three-point seat belts.
SN95 Engine Options
1994-2004 Mustangs featured a base model 3.8 V6, and the Mustang GT getting a pushrod 5.0 V8 or a V8 SOHC 4.6. Some special models such as cobra's and mach 1's got a DOHC 4.6 V8.

Why the SN95 Mustang?
Maybe what makes the SN95 special to me is because it was my first car. But I have to say I think this platform is quite under rated when it comes to styling. When I look at this car it reminds me a lot of the newer s550 Mustangs which happened to really grab my attention and pull me into the mustang world. One year before I bought my mustang in 2015, Ford released the Shelby GT350 with it's unique front end stylish rear spoiler. The GT350 spoiler in particular is what inspired my spoiler design for the 1994-1998 Mustang. I knew someday back then that I would make a spoiler like the happen for the SN95 cars and so I did.
